Associate Editor/Writer needed to handle a broad range of editorial tasks. Primary responsibility will be to report and write four to six short (750 to 1,000-word) feature stories a month and copy edit up to a dozen more for an online custom publication. Editorial topics will focus on growth, operations, and financing issues in the small business space/community. Some editorial site management and content posting duties will also be included, so a basic knowledge of CMS and Photoshop would be helpful. On an as-needed basis, additional duties may include copy editing and short writing opportunities for the other online publications and print magazines that Touchpoint Media produces. The focus of these run the gamut from business technology to sports to shelter to travel, allowing the candidate to potentially get experience working with a broad range of topics. Initially, this full-time opportunity will be a short-term contract position lasting three months. Pay would be monthly at a rate of $12 to $15/hour, based on candidate's individual experience. But because of anticipated workload, the potential strongly exists for the opportunity to become an on-staff editorial position (with full benefits) for the right candidate. No office resources are available for this position, so all work will be done remotely. However, only candidates within the New York metro area will be considered as there will be a need for occasional in-person editorial meetings and this is where our editorial and executive leadership team is based.
