Business Writer
Seeking a writer with minimum 5 years of business journalism experience to anchor a new business "vertical" for a major publication. Responsibilities will include writing numerous daily posts -- both blog-style aggregation and pieces driven by original reporting -- that open up the business and financial world to a mainstream Magazine audience. This writer will also contribute pieces to the magazine's Economy page on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will have the ability to assess the day's business, financial, and markets news for opportunities to add perspective, analysis and context; anticipate where the business media will be focusing its attention in the days ahead; quickly generate clean, vibrant, and engaging copy under intense time pressure; and to make business news both understandable and vital to readers who are not necessarily looking for business content. Proficiency at covering stock market developments is also required. Candidates must understand and be comfortable with the unique requirements of web writing, and be skilled at framing articles and writing headlines to get attention in an intensely competitive media environment. Knowledge of wordpress is a plus.
