Columbia University School of the Arts MFA (graduate) student short film.
"Spooks" is a short romantic drama about letting go and giving up. The morning after Sarah and Sidney are engaged to be married, Sarah finds a videocamera tucked inside a hidden room in Sidney's house. Through the lens of the camera, Sarah sees and interacts with the ghost of Sidney's previous bride, the woman Sarah's engagement was intended to push further into the past. Sarah must choose whether to share this amazing device with Sidney (thus risking the stability of their relationship), or to destroy it in secret.
"Spooks" will be approximately 7 minutes long, shot on a Canon 7D.
Seeking -- SIDNEY: Male. Age 27 - 35. A warm, well-off man, Sidney wants to move forward with his life and marry Sarah, but the sudden and tragic death of his first fiance has left him fundamentally broken.
THE BRIDE: Female. Age 25 - 32. The Bride is beautiful, characterized by her deeply expressive features, but ultimately a bit of a mystery. We know that she was engaged to Sidney before her death, but the fact that her ghost is always seen wearing her wedding dress suggests that whatever unfinished business she has might directly interfere with Sarah's plans for the future. The Bride won't leave Sarah alone until she gets what she wants.
