Coordinating Producer
This producer will oversee the daily operation of the newsroom under the direction of our Senior Producer of the Newsroom.
This position is responsible for keeping the newsroom staffed: which includes assessing skills of employees; arranging for cross training; hiring freelancers; re-arranging schedules based on vacation; approving and denying vacation.
This position is responsible for filling in for the Senior Producer of the Newsroom when they are on vacation or out of the bureau for assignment.
Bachelors degree and 5+ years of broadcast experience
Strong editorial judgment as well as strong logistical skills
Knowledge/Experience covering news in Washington DC
Knowledge of national politics
The ability to work well in a fast paced and intense atmosphere
Knowledge of Tapeless newsgathering
Familiarity with iNews & Outlook
Familiarity with Fiber, Satellite and DC-AVOC switch
Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends
Motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently as well as in a team environment
