The primary roles of this position:

- Oversee the official launch and help plan the inaugural season of the Ubuntu-Shruti Orchestra (a new professional training orchestra created by MFLI, which brings together young musicians and distinguished mentors to create programming focused on immigrants, community and education).
- Assist in planning global humanitarian concerts
- Fundraise, research & write grant proposals, donor appeals; plan donor cultivation events
- Manage revenue, track and report financial data, create reports for IRS
- Create and distribute written and email communications, social media, website updates
- Manage MFLI calendar; attend Board meetings, lead and facilitate operations & production meetings
- Manage intern(s); liaise with MFLI part-time staff

The person contracted for this position will work from home, have office space and attend weekly staff meetings at the MFLI office, and will be available to travel throughout New York, regionally within the US, and internationally, for meetings and events.

These responsibilities will initially require 100 hours of time per month (average 25 hours per week). Compensation will be $35,000 to 40,000 for a one-year commitment with ongoing potential. This person's drive and success in the first year will help determine the future shape and direction of the position, as well those of the organization.

Ideally, this person will have a master's degree in Arts Administration or an MBA and/or at least three years of professional experience, including fundraising and operations, with an orchestral background and familiarity with the classical music scene in New York City.
