Executive Director- Music

The Executive Director provides leadership and vision to fulfill the orchestra's mission and achieve its goals for artistic excellence, financial stability, and community engagement. S/he is responsible and accountable for all aspects of the orchestra's operations, including: strategic planning; artistic administration; fundraising; marketing; communications; budgeting and financial management; orchestra relations and negotiations; concert production; educational activities; and community engagement.




The Executive Director leads the implementation of the Eugene Symphony's strategic plan. S/he develops and monitors annual operating budgets, ensuring that the orchestra achieves its annual and long-term goals for earned and contributed income. S/he plays a leadership role in fundraising for the Eugene Symphony, actively cultivating, soliciting, and providing stewardship for annual fund and endowment gifts. S/he gives impetus and support to the fundraising efforts of the Board of Directors.




The Executi>ve Director represents the Eugene Symphony throughout the community. S/he actively seeks out opportunities for productive partnerships and collaborations with other organizations in Eugene and throughout the Willamette Valley region. The Executive Director expands the role and reputation of the Eugene Symphony throughout the city, state, and region. S/he oversees the implementation of an effective institutional marketing plan to strengthen the orchestra's brand, broaden public awareness, enhance the patron experience, and build audiences.




The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors through the Board Chair. S/he ensures effective communication and facilitates and supports the work of the Board and its committees. S/he engages, supervises, motivates, and leads a high caliber staff. She maintains a work environment that allows the Music Director and musicians of the orchestra to do their best work. S/he provides guidance and support to the efforts of those who volunteer for the orchestra. S/he promotes transparency and effective communication among all stakeholders.
