Programs & Events Manager

  • Plan and manage all events including promotion, registration and logistics
  • Create and manage event and program budgets and, in conjunction with Executive Director, negotiate vendor and sponsor contracts
  • Serve as a liaison to meeting facilitators, session speakers, award winners/presenters, program committee members, session producers and board members
  • Recruit and mange event volunteers
  • Produce training seminars including developing agendas, selecting facilitators and assessing the impact of the training
  • Conceptualize new program offerings and work with development to secure grants for those programs
  • Work with team on marketing initiatives for the organization
  • Write program marketing descriptions, project evaluation reports and external correspondence
  • Work with the sales team and manage the sponsorship fulfillment process for all events
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least three years experience managing large events
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to multitask, work independently and meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Must be customer service orientated and a team-player
  • Critical thinking skills and an understanding of journalism and media issues required
  • Social media marketing and web skills very helpful
