  • The Office of Communications at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy seeks a creative and resourceful Associate Director of Marketing and Content. Serving a variety of areas across the school, the individual will develop and execute impactful, strategically focused marketing, social media, and editorial content to reach target audiences and drive the school's evolving brand. The Associate Director of Marketing and Content will be responsible for creating content and providing marketing leadership, coordination, and guidance across the school and its divisions with implementation of integrated marketing outreach activities via organic and paid media. The selected candidate will work with internal clients across the school to understand goals and shape and execute project plans that deliver measurable results.

    The Associate Director of Marketing and Content will create or assist in the creation of all forms of digital and print communications, including editorial content, emails, newsletters, marketing collateral, social media, digital advertising, website content, and presentations. The individual will provide recommendations on content, publications, content platform integration, and opportunities that communicate the goals and advance the reputation of the Batten School.

    Responsibilities

    • Create and help facilitate dynamic content of various formats to be distributed across Batten School platforms, including print and digital publications, news, social media, web, and others

    • Lead and implement the Batten School's marketing strategy to support business goals, reach a variety of target audiences, and elevate the school's reputation

    • Plan and execute targeted, integrated marketing campaigns across paid and organic platforms

    • Plan and execute holistic marketing plans that are measurable, flexible, and demonstrate effectiveness and ROI

    • Develop a framework to more efficiently gather, analyze, and understand marketing data relevant to core business objectives (including social media assessment, surveying audiences, and reviewing analytics with the Director of Data Analytics)

    • Lead the Batten School's social media programs on platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others

    • Manage a social media content calendar to ensure consistent and timely dissemination of content that aligns with communications priorities

    • Develop relationships with social influencers to amplify the school's strategic priorities

    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree

    • At least 5 years of professional experience

    • Exceptional writing and editing skills and demonstrated ability to write for variety of platforms and voices(marketing copy, editorial, social media, etc.)

    • Exceptional track record of generating and managing creative, effective marketing and social media content to reach a variety of audiences

    • Passion for experimenting with creative and unfamiliar approaches to content creation and dissemination

    • Outstanding attention to detail

    • Ability to manage vendor projects and budgets in accordance with project scope

    • Strong interest in digital trends and identifying new opportunities to promote the school's programs and reputation

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree in English, Communications or Related Field

    • 3+ years of experience leading marketing strategy and creating social media content

    • Previous work experience in a higher education institution

    • Knowledge of and experience with any of the following technologies:

    • MarketingCloud or other email marketing platforms

    • HootSuite or other social media management platforms

    • Drupal or other website CMS

    • Basic HTML

    • Google AdWords and Google Analytics

    • Adobe Creative Suite

    • Salesforce

    • Photography and video production

    The selected applicant will be required to complete a background check prior to their first day of employment per University Policy.

    This position is open to remote workers however frequent travel to and from Charlottesville, VA will be required.

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $80,000 to $90,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
