    THE OPPORTUNITY

    The Associate Editor of Print and Digital ELA Content will assist in creating innovative, research-based, developmentally-appropriate learning experiences. He or she will contribute to product planning, content creation and tracking of editorial tasks with the highest commitment to quality and efficacy.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Working with various Directors, will follow product plans including instructional models and editorial guidelines, working within established development schedules and project budgets.

    • Contribute to content creation and selection with a careful attention to detail.

    • Work with program authors and consultants as needed, maintaining communication and building rapport and enthusiasm.

    • Work on up to 3 programs or projects at a time.

    • Write, review, and edit content as needed.

    • Track content alignment to relevant research to learning standards.

    • Maintain and update program-specific systems, charts, and editorial folders on Scholastic server

    • Be the conduit between editors and all other vendors and departments for all editorial products, as follows Traffic documents (server-based) from Editorial to vendors, other Scholastic departments (e.g., proofreading, design), and program author, and track all such transactions

    • Maintain positive and productive working relationships with peers in art & design, production, marketing, finance, and operations departments.

    • Attend meetings.

    HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

    Requirements:

    • Must have a passion and respect for literacy learning.

    • Must have 2-5 years editorial experience and excellent editing skills.

    • Must have experience developing digital content.

    • Must have Bachelors degree or higher.

    • Classroom or teaching experience is a plus.

    • Must be comfortable working with Word, Excel, and custom digital production tools for content tracking and sharing.

    • Must be comfortable working with off-site colleagues through conference calls, screen-sharing (e.g., googlemeet), and file sharing.

    • Experience with editorial production process, including design, revision, possible conversion of text to digital language, transfer of documents, wireframe review, and so on
