    The Audio Operator A1 is responsible for mixing high quality audio for live or live to tape for Entertainment, Talk, Sports, Network News, Digital and Mobile Oriented television programming/shows with proven proficiency in mixing 5.1 surround sound. They also operate Pro-Tools and will provide basic audio editing and mixing services.

    This is a project/limited term position, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

    Job Duties

    • Responsible for setting up & checking that all microphones, audio sources and media playback are adjusted for proper VU levels with correct enhanced equalization techniques

    • Maintains acceptable short form Target Loudness levels (-24 LKFS)

    • Responsible for ensuring the proper set up of IFB mix minus and Telos Systems for Live Shots and Telephone call-ins.

    • Executes signal processing with Waves Sound grid systems and external Digital Effects Processor

    • Creates and programs Parcel saves for RTS panels using AZ Edit communication software

    • Responsible for the coordination of all RF/Wireless equipment (i.e., microphones, IFB and PL) as well as all studio foldback, PA & Live Sound Performance with appointed Audio Operator A2.

    • Acts as the Pro Tools Operator that provides full audio editing and mixing services as needed

    • Provides relief when needed for Studio or remote/field needs (i.e. acts as Audio Operator A2 if needed)

    • Assists in the training and development of new Audio Operators A2

    • Works under the direct supervision of Manager, Audio Operations and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by Manager or Supervisor as needed

    Basic Requirements

    • Minimum 4 years of audio experience in a live television environment including news, talk, entertainment and sports programming or live audio applications

    • Exhibits operational knowledge of Digital and Analog broadcast audio consoles (i.e LAWO, Calrec) and peripheral equipment including network broadcast A/V digital routers.

    • Proficient in Avid iNEWS software or similar NRCS (ENPS, Dalet, Inception, etc.)

    • Exhibits strong knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production technology as well as front of house and monitor mixing

    • Prior experience in Recording Studio, Live, & Recorded Remote

    • Exhibits understanding and ability to work in conjunction with automated control rooms.

    • Exhibits mid-Level computer skills and familiarity with Windows & Mac operating systems including but not limited to audio recording, editing, mixing, ADR, 5.1 surround sound, sync sound to picture, music editing and sound design

    • Must be able to perform physical activities required of this position which includes, but is not limited to, climbing, lifting, bending, squatting, frequent standing and handling of equipment

    • Fluent in English (both written and oral)

    Desired Characteristics

    • Bachelor's Degree in Audio Engineering or Communications, Television Production strongly preferred

    • Exceptional communication, time management, analytical and organizational skills
