Position : Breaking News Reporter

Location : Harrisburg, PA

Come join the close-knit and collaborative breaking news team at ~~~. The team is comprised of energetic and passionate storytellers with a broad range of interests and strengths. As a breaking news reporter, you'll work with this staff to build the skills you need for a career in journalism. You will report on a wide range of high-interest topics -- including crime , public safety and accountability -- for a team at the heart of our newsroom. We'll help you write with clarity, gather high-impact information and advocate for readers.

Qualified candidates should have

• A bachelor's degree in journalism or communications or related field required

• A minimum of one year in journalism with a proven ability to report and write clear, compelling stories

• The ability to work quickly, but with accuracy and good news judgment

• Ability to develop sources

• Good understanding of using social media for research and to engage readers

• Digital storytelling skills and openness to trying new approaches

• Relentless curiosity and news judgement

• Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including some nights and weekends

This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources or cover events.
