Job Summary

This is an exciting and dynamic business affairs position responsible for collaborating with in-house marketing, production and project management teams. This individual will also be responsible for licensing and clearance of magazine and newspaper publisher assets to be used in global marketing communications for associated social, retail, direct marketing, online advertising and channel/retail partners. This person enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with creative individuals, has confidence in their skill set, is self-motivated, detail oriented and is a creative and proactive problem solver. This individual also is exceptional at building processes and has strong organizational and time management skills.

• Work with third party entities to secure consent and clear rights when referencing their assets

• Monitor and ensure compliance with procedures and policies with vendors, talent, licensing and publishing

• Facilitate internal communication between teams so projects are moving forward (flag local legal issues, content constraints, timing, etc.)

• Maintain communication with team leads to make sure information is flowing properly, action items are clear, and issues are escalated at the right time and to the right people

• Work with multiple teams and provide a legal perspective advice and counseling on a wide variety of matters, including trademarks and copyrightsAssess, manage and communicate risks, and advise team leads concerning risk, exposure and strategic options

• Manage third party content review process

• Educate teams on legal and third part content in order to ensure teams are working efficiently

• Maintain business affairs process deck, releases, and trackers for all projects

Key Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to deal with rapid changes in a fast-paced, deadline driven and creative environment

• Strong negotiation and drafting skills, ability to partner with creatives who span many disciplines is essential

• Understanding of industry standards in advertising and marketing along with the related agreements around distribution of media

• Strong understanding of magazine and newspaper asset licensing

• Ability to work with a diverse set of publishing media industry partners

Description

This dynamic individual will have at least 5-8 years of prior experience working in a Business Affairs role at an advertising agency or brand (experience in both, a plus). This individual should be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and be capable of organizing a wide breadth projects.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.

• Advanced degree such as JD is useful but not required.

• Must have working knowledge of copyright, trademark and third party IP licensing in the areas of advertising

and marketing

• Experience with the licensing publication-related assets: logos, images, illustrations, animation, stock photo, articles
