    Position Summary:

    Bon Appétit Management Company is looking for its next rock-star Communications Project Assistant! This position is part of a team that plays a vital role in a socially responsible company trying to make a difference in the food system. The job ranges from writing, formatting, and proofreading marketing and communications materials to coming up with on-brand social media posts to support the company’s corporate online presence and inspire more than 250 unit-level channels. This position requires excellent writing and editing skills, a flexible writing voice, creativity, strong attention to detail, great organizational skills, and an eye for selecting good images. Applicant should be open to innovation and change when assigned new and ongoing projects. The individual will regularly interact with both Bon Appétit’s communications and marketing teams as well as operators in our cafés around the country.

    Key Responsibilities:

    All employees are expected to achieve the following:

    • Perform quality work within deadlines, with or without direct supervision.

    • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.

    • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

    • Interact professionally with all levels of the company, internal and external customers, and suppliers.

    Social Media

    • Support the creation and scheduling of relevant, original, high-quality content for Bon Appétit’s corporate and unit-level social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)

    • Create and manage corporate social media calendar with input from the Digital Content Manager and Director of Communications

    • Draft social media posts on a weekly basis

    • Propose ideas for original posts and campaigns

    • Manage notifications and messages on various platforms

    • Set up new pages and users in Facebook Business Manager and maintain list of all Bon Appétit-related social media accounts

    • Audit social media accounts

    Image Management

    • Create and manage the process of organizing and disseminating Bon Appétit’s numerous digital assets for internal and unit-level use, using the company’s Libris image management system.

    • Download and sort company photos and stock images

    • Upload and tag assets

    • Crop images for specific uses

    • Troubleshoot user login issues

    • Respond to user requests for specific image needs

    • Stay informed of system changes and enact changes to improve system usability


    • Contribute to the creation and dissemination ofBravo, Bon Appétit’s award-winning quarterly company magazine

    • Process submissions that come through various channels

    • Download and sort images

    • Assist with issue workflow (managing edits, keeping track of stories)

    • Draft select stories on the company’s custom Wordpress blog

    • Manage address list for shipping

    • Write and proofread stories as needed

    Minor Duties:

    • Support new and ongoing projects in the Communications department. Tasks may include but is not limited to:

    • Formatting newsletters and press releases in Mailchimp

    • Maintaining sections of the company’s ~~~ website, intranet, and guest-facing ~~~ website

    • Compiling and formatting presentations and guides

    • Proofreading menus and marketing collateral

    • Printing and mailing materials

    Note: Job duties are subject to change as needed.


    • A four-year degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or another related degree

    • A two-year degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or other related degree and 2-4 years of experience with communications/administrative project work.

    • Instead of a degree, five years minimum of communications/administrative project work.

    • Proven office administrative experience.

    • Strong computer skills and proven experience or ability to learn technology quickly to figure out new Web-based software and systems: Complete fluency in social media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and GoogleDocs; basic image editing techniques (cropping, resizing for Web, color balancing, spot removing); basic HTML.

    • Impressive personal Instagramming of food

    • Excellent writing and proofreading skills (a live, in-person test will be administered to selected applicants).

    • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to triage multiple priorities and flexibility to take on varied tasks.

    • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and within a team.

    • Ability to interact with diverse and high volume customer base in a friendly and efficient manner.
