Serco is hiring a Strategic Communications Specialist, to apply knowledge of Federal programs to support our (NAVSEA) program and a range of government customers in establishing and improving efficient strategic communications to support the US Navy at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC.

    Serco supports the US Navy, NAVSEA HR and Command Administration Center, whichProvides the highest quality of administrative services with timely results, relieving our Sailors and service employees of administrative burdens to keep them focused on the command mission of delivering fully capable strategic deterrent assets back to sea on-time.

    In this role, you will:

    • Provide strategic communication subject matter expertise as part of our team to analyze customer HR programs and make recommendations for improvement.

    • Work closely with Program and Project Managers at Naval Sea Systems Command's (NAVSEA) to identify strategic communication needs and develop innovative solutions and quality products.

    • Develop, implement, evaluate, and refine a communication strategy to support various programs across the organization to effectively describe and promote initiatives, events, and products using strategic communications models, methods, and tools customized to fit the customer's needs

    • Develop and monitor measurable strategic communications goals that align with the organization's mission, vision, values, and yearly goals

    • Plan and conduct market research to advance the organization's strategic framework and marketing objectives

    • Use innovative marketing and branding strategies to assist the organization with building/improving customer relationships

    • Analyze existing communication avenues for improvement opportunities

    • Build a culture of communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

    • Assist program and project leads with identifying communications needs and resources

    • Interact daily with program and project leads to advise, develop, and provide creative and measurable communications and marketing plans

    • Develop quality presentations and briefs for senior leadership that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products and services

    • Develop and disseminating quality communication products using various communication platforms for the purposes of conveying messages to the organization's workforce

    • Write, edit, review, and support the release of internal communication documentation

    • Assess overall strategic communications performance

    Qualifications

    To be successful in this role, you will have:

    • An active DoD Secret clearance

    • A Bachelor's degree in related field or years experience will be considered in lieu of degree

    • 2 years of experience working with DoD organizations

    • 3 years of experience in marketing, media relations, public affairs, crisis communications, issues management, social media, and public relations

    • 3 years of overall/applicable experience

    • Experience as a strategic communications practitioner

    • Comfortable leading complex efforts and developing innovative solutions to implement and improve communication strategies

    • Have experience working in fast paced environments

    • Have experience working in large groups

    • Have excellent oral and written communications skills

    • Creative and strategic application of digital and social media technologies
