Reporting to the Engagement Manager for Columbia's All of Us (AoU) Research Program in the Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM), the Community Engagement Associate will play a critical role in helping to meet the program milestones set forth by the grant for Columbia University. In particular, this position will represent the NYC Consortium at outreach and engagement events geared toward achieving the goal of reaching, successfully recruiting, and retaining the diverse populations within the NYC catchment area.
Maintain NYC Consortium engagement calendars on Google and Network Ninja platforms.
Identify and maintain a contact list for new engagement partners with academic institutions, houses of worship, and other community organizations and businesses.
Schedule and attend meetings between new engagement partners and the Engagement Manager.
Draft NYC Consortium monthly engagement newsletter content.
Compile and submit daily tabling and engagement event reports to the Engagement Manager.
Track and maintain a list of All of Us Engagement inventory. Request items for replenishment as needed.
Provide a professional presence at outreach and engagement events. Including but not limited to tabling, community fairs, lectures, and virtual events.
Manage and coordinate the setup and breakdown of tabling events for outreach.
Willing and able to cover engagement events outside of traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.
Able to carry out general work in an on-site office or home office environment.
Able to lift, carry, and stock engagement event supplies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education or relevant experience may be substituted, as long as it relates to the essential duties and responsibilities, plus at least two (2) years of experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, TEAMS).
An enthusiastic and positive attitude that builds relationships and develops partnerships to support the All of Us Research Program and the Precision Medicine Initiative.
Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A creative approach to problem-solving.
Able to work independently and collaboratively as a part of a diverse team.
Self-motivated, willing and able take initiative.
Experience with cultivating relationships across diverse communities and foster relationship building.
Possess an ability to relay technical information in a clear, concise manner and layman terms.
Willingness to engage stakeholders and increase individual and organization awareness of the All of Us Research Program.
Analytical skills to use data to help the Engagement Manager inform strategies.
