    Position Summary

    Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Competitive Sports Coordinator - Boca Raton, FL

    Reporting through the Department of Campus Recreation, the Coordinator of Competitive Sports is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a comprehensive intramural and sport club program. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports, the Coordinator of Competitive Sports administers, organizes, and promotes athletic experiences and student development through the management of over 21 Sport Clubs, year-round Intramural offerings spanning 15 different pursuits.

    Summary of responsibilities

    Competitive Sports

    • Assist in the creation, presentation, and maintenance budget for the Sport Clubs and Intramural program.

    • Assist in managing, purchasing, and maintaining inventory of all Competitive Sports apparel and equipment.

    • Collaborate and develop relationships with volunteer coaches and advisors.

    • Coordinate travel plans for clubs and extramural events in conjunction with university policies and procedures.

    • Coordinate marketing, social media, and publicity efforts for Competitive Sports program.

    • Maintain high visibility and accessibility to program participants and staff.

    Assessment

    • Conduct regular reviews, evaluations, surveys, assessments and reports of programs, equipment, and facilities.

    • Assist with preparing monthly and annual reports related to Key Performance Indicators and Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis Goals.

    Facility Operations and Risk Management

    • Supervise risk management including developing and updating risk management policies and procedures for Sport clubs and Intramurals in accordance with current industry standards.

    • Continually develop and maintain systems to ensure safe conditions, operating procedures, and equipment for staff/participants.

    • Operate in accordance with current NIRSA standards.

    • Manage day-to-day operation of the Intramural and Sport Club Program

    • Develop and maintain procedures and documentation processes for equipment, uniforms, and supplies; tracking inventory and projecting replacement needs on an annual basis.

    • Assist in establishing policies and procedures for facilities and programs, along with training and assessing staff on risk management skills and protocol.

    • Ensure staff are informed of current safety and risk management procedures in the departmental Emergency Action Plan; review with staff on an annual basis.

    Staff Development and Supervision

    • Engage and aid with the planning and development of the Sport Club Executive Board Members.

    • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates personnel for the Competitive Sports program. This includes development of training sessions and in-service training and testing; discipline and counsel as needed; termination when necessary. Maintain accurate records for all staff members including training records and counseling reports.

    • Sets learning outcomes and provides continuing education for staff to enhance skills and obtain or maintain appropriate certification through workshops, instructional seminars, and conference attendance.

    • Coordinate game and practice scheduling with club leaders, game opponents, and master schedule for facility utilization.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Assist with preparation of the department's budget through outdoor adventure staffing and expense projections.

    • Collaborate with department marketing staff to implement publicity strategies and outreach efforts to maximize program awareness, visibility, and participation.

    • Maintain and expand relationships with Student Government, Academic Departments, and others.

    • Other job -related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

    Salary

    $42,000 - $44,000 per year
