    CNBC Select is looking to hire a talented Credit Card Reporter to focus on researching, evaluating, and recommending credit cards. CNBC Select is a fast-growing, consumer-friendly commerce brand within the NBCU News Group. The team is devoted to providing readers with rigorous reviews and personal finance advice so they can make informed decisions about the financial products they use every day. The Credit Card Reporter will be primarily responsible for analyzing and reviewing credit cards through expertise, research and reporting to provide readers with advice on the best credit cards on the market and how to best use their benefits. The ideal candidate will have strong reporting and journalism skills, deep knowledge of credit cards, experience putting together "best of" lists using methodologies, comfort with numbers and data as well as words, and a knack for making complex subjects interesting, engaging, and relatable.

    What you'll do:

    • Brainstorm functional, data-driven models to determine which specific kind of credit card could serve readers best.

    • Write credit card reviews, best-of lists, and other credit-card related explainers.

    • Generate story ideas and follow through by reporting, writing, and creating digital content.

    • Research and assemble reliable, informative lists of recommendations.

    • Help grow the CNBC Select brand and cultivate an engaged audience.

    • Contribute to multi-platform news coverage when needed.

    • Use social media to distribute and promote content.

    • At least 3 years of professional experience as a writer and/or reporter

    • Proven experience or expertise in credit cards, credit card rewards programs, travel rewards programs and credit scores

    • Proven experience or strong interest in the personal finance space

    • Proven ability to report and write accurately and clearly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven news environment

    • Proven experience with journalism best practices

    • Familiarity with following and reporting on current events, especially as they relate to personal finance and credit cards

    • A developed list of sources in the credit card industry

    • Familiarity and comfort with social media

    • Familiarity and comfort with SEO in an editorial environment

    • Ability to convey to readers why and how high-level or abstract stories could affect them personally

    • Commerce experience

    Desired Characteristics

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience

    • Experience at a large online content destination, such as a major online news site or financial newspaper

    • Passion for digital storytelling and creating the best user experience online

    • Ongoing knowledge of and interest in the business world and financial news

    • On-camera experience as an expert with video and/or TV
