Position Overview

The Shaw residential hard surface product design team is seeking a talented designer to join our design team and collaborate closely with cross-functional internal and external teams as well as global vendors. This designer will identify consumer trends, develop artwork for visuals, and translate them into innovative product concepts. This designer will have full understanding of requirements for rotogravure and digital printing processes, expert Adobe Photoshop skills and knowledge of AVA CAD/CAM. The hard surface products this individual designs will power Shaw to grow sales effectiveness and profitability.

Complete design research and create artwork for residential hard surface categories in alignment with the strategy and vision for laminate, ceramic, hardwood, and resilient products.

An ideal candidate will possess the creativity to develop exclusive visuals for hard surface flooring products that could be manufactured internally or externally by our vendor partners.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for design and colorations of hard surface flooring visuals from concept to completion, including the concept design phase, continuing through the development and manufacturing phases, as well as supporting the development of marketing materials.

• The design team will do market research in color and design trends, create product presentations, engage in customer feedback sessions, and participate in trade shows.

• Demonstrate a creative approach to all tasks with the ability to manage multiple projects using excellent time management skills while working in a collaborative team environment.

• Position requires the ability to work globally on occasion, traveling internationally to work with vendors and attend trade shows in Asia and Europe, as well as domestic travel.

• Participate in customer interactions such as customer tours, focus groups, and other product presentations.

• Understand brand strategy and how to design product based on line structure

• This position reports to the residential Director of Creative Product Design - Hard Surfaces.

Requirements:

• Four year college degree and/or advanced degree in a design-related field.

• Must have excellent Photoshop skills. AVA CAD/CAM skills are desired, but not required.

• Experience with premium brands is preferred and will be an important part of the position.

• Ability to create repeat patterns and understanding of rotogravure and digital printing processes

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to work globally.

• Innate aesthetic sense and intuitive understanding of color and design principles

Position level and title is based upon experience of the selected candidate:

Associate Designer (Level 5): Four year college degree and/or advanced degree in a Design related field with 0 - 2 years work experience as a designer.

Designer (Level 6): Four year college degree and/or advanced degree in a Design related field with 2 - 5 years of relevant work experience as a designer.

Senior Designer (Level 7): Four year college degree and/or advanced degree in Design related field with over 5 years of work experience in hard surface flooring product design. The senior designer can take a product from concept to completion with minimal guidance

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
