  • Overview

    V2X is seeking a Marketing, Communications & Engagement Director to support the Antarctic Science and Engineering Support Contract (ASESC). Supporting the National Science Foundation (NSF) the US Antarctic Program manages 3 year-round stations (McMurdo, Amundsen-Scott South Pole, and Palmer), 2 research vessels and many field camps in support of summer over and winter over campaigns.

    Responsibilities

    Major Job Activities:

    • Reports to the Project Director

    • The role of the Communications & Engagement Manager is to develop, deliver and execute a proactive internal and external communications and stakeholder engagement strategy for a unique project in Antarctica. Helping to develop and improve project communications, provide direct leadership and management to all functional organizations.

    • Develop and implement an internal and external communications strategic plan for the United States Antarctica Project (USAP) project in Antarctica with the aim of improving and enhancing available communication channels.

    • Write and edit internal and external communications.

    • Advise and lead on internal and external campaign and support development of wider USAP wide approach and messaging to promote V2X.

    • Work closely with the Project Director and Senior Leadership Team to develop innovative and effective strategies to improve employee engagement, enhance the sense of community, Health & Wellbeing of staff, embed the Mission Connected. Mission Committed V2X values and develop a positive leadership culture.

    • Develop and improve internal and external communication channels across, working with the wider V2X Communications and Marketing teams, and IT, to make effective use of internal and external channels.

    • Ensure suitable mechanisms are in place to allow for communications to flow across departments, the project and the wider business, enhancing awareness and helping build a culture of trust and openness.

    • Implement guidelines for consistent and recognizable branded style for communications.

    • Evaluate the success of communications campaigns and use data and research to improve communications techniques and strategies.

    • Manage communications and marketing associated with key business unit proposals, including liaison with partners on potential strategies.

    • Support the development and implementation of a social value strategy within the project, linking in with the wider business strategy in this area.

    Working Environment:

    Deployment to Antarctica is required in this position, and therefore the individual must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations as required by NSF for deployment to Antarctica.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    U.S. citizenship is required.

    The successful candidate must pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation as a condition of employment.

    This position is contingent upon successful contract award of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP) National Science Foundation (NSF) Antarctica Support Contract (ASC) to V2X.

    Education / Certifications:

    Bachelor's Degree required in Journalism, Communication, Marketing, or related field required and 9+ years of experience.

    Experience / Skills:

    A proven track record of successfully developing and implementing engaging internal and external communications strategies for complex projects with wide ranging and geographical distributed stakeholders

    Experience of measuring the effectiveness of communications and associated strategies

    Experience of engaging and influencing senior managers within an organization

    Experienced in leading relationship formation with stakeholders including developing advocacy amongst key opinion formers

    An entrepreneurial approach and passionate about work

    Strong organizational skills and the ability to support multiple projects under potentially conflicting deadlines.

    Demonstrated ability to build relationships, motivate others, and manage interpersonal situations.

    Experience using MS Office products and Adobe, especially Photoshop/Lightroom, InDesign, and Illustrator.

    Skill in using software applications to develop communications products such as web design and content, brochures, briefing materials, and marketing tools.
