    Optum's EHR Services represents one of the fastest growing practices within Optum Insight's Advisory and Implementations business unit. The EHR Services practice is comprised of 600+ individuals across the U.S. and Ireland who are dedicated to improving the healthcare delivery system through the power of healthcare technology, specifically, the EHR and integrated applications and tools. By joining the EHR Services team, you'll partner with some of the most gifted healthcare technology thought leaders within the industry, collaborate with experienced consulting and healthcare leaders, and help partners capture the benefits of their EHR investment.

    Optum seeks an Epic BI Developer with hands-on experience in EHR Services implementation and operation projects. They will manage integration teams, train best practices, and align with EHR Services to ensure successful project execution.

    The Clarity Report Writer will create design specifications for new reports and identify and validate the appropriate technological solutions for various reporting needs

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Develops complex operational and project-related reports including analysis, design, documentation, versioning development, configuration, testing, implementation and ongoing support for Epic Clarity-based reporting

    • Receives and documents formal requests from customer including specifications (layout, calculations, data source, etc.) Evaluates requests for completeness and if needed works with customer to finalize request

    • Provides technical direction, guidance and assistance during project development and accomplish all required formal sign-offs

    • Designs and documents the general functional requirements and detailed technical specifications for a report

    • Assists with Epic upgrades/updates by serving as a subject matter expert for the Epic Clarity data models

    • Implements reports/database software in an optimal manner to minimize the effect on production and development activities

    • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with reports, including reviewing scripts and database issues

    • Provides technical/clinical workflow consultation including application configuration. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates systems needs to develop recommendations for customers

    • Develops, supports and maintains all required system design and build documents and other system documentation

    • Provides support of application incidents reported through the help desk; including 24/7 on call coverage as required

    • Adheres to organization standards for system configuration and change control

    • Develops solid relationships with end user communities, customers and business partners

    • Attends, participates in, and contributes to meetings throughout the facility

    • Troubleshoots and/or resolves application issues and escalates more complex issues as appropriate

    • The Report Writer may create new reports, using third party report writing tools to display Clarity data

    Required Qualifications:

    • Active / current Epic certifications in at least two areas including one Clarity Data Model (Revenue data or Clinical data)

    • 5+ years enterprise experience with Epic systems

    • 5+ years of experience designing, creating, testing and implementing complex reports using Cogito SQL, SSIS, and/or Business Objects Enterprise reporting tools

    • 5+ years of experience with SQL query techniques and stored procedures to access relational databases with the ability to write efficient queries

    • 5+ years Reporting tool experience or certifications (Oracle, Microsoft, SAS, Cognos, etc.)

    • Proficiency with MS Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 5+ years healthcare experience

    • Familiarity with Epic applications and database structure

    • Proven ability to demonstrate and have a history of team management (informal or formal), cross-team communication and leadership skills

    • Ability to travel up to 25% annually, USA domestic locations. Travel may be lower depending on project requirements

    California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
