The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for anEquipment Care Operator (ECO)inCarrollton, KY.
The full-time Operations Equipment Care Operator (ECO) is part of a skilled work group that is at the front line of process productions. Commonly called the â€œoutside operatorâ€, the objective of this individual is to be the human interface between the Physical Process (piping, valves, and vessels) and the Virtual Process (Distributed Control System, remotely operated electronic control system).
Perform regular, comprehensive process rounds to ensure safe and effective operation, the ECO is to inspect every piece of equipment in their area multiple times per shift. â€œEvery Process, Every Floor, Every Piece of Equipment, using all Your Sensesâ€. The ECO is at the core of our layered safety and reliability protection system.
Responsible for the Maintenance Cycle of all equipment â€“ The ECO initiates and coordinates the maintenance cycle after finding a problem on a regular round or preventive maintenance inspection or as directed by scheduling. This will include writing appropriate prep procedures, safely shutting down and preparing equipment, removing and locking out all hazardous materials and energy sources. Depending on the scope of the work, the ECO may perform the maintenance or properly permit the maintenance shop to perform the repair. Once complete, the process must be put safely back in service, the ECO is responsible for performing pressure checks, proper inerting, completing inspections, re-energizing and starting equipment.
Tuning and Troubleshooting â€“ In response to adverse conditions detected by the Virtual Process (including the Process Control Operator, or Inside Operator) or their own field indications, the ECO responds to take measurements and analyze problems. The ECO may then make necessary adjustments, perform minor maintenance or make notifications to return the process to proper operation.
Input/output Management â€“ The ECO is responsible for the manual introduction of raw materials, feed stocks, utilities, catalysts, and any other process inputs. This may require setting up pumps and feed lines or direct material handling. The ECO is also responsible for product sampling and setting up product transfers for customer delivery, as well as the disposition of any other process outputs.
Certification/Recertification - The ECO is responsible for completing required training to achieve Certification or Recertification as defined in site policies.
Emergency Response to protect people, the environment and property â€“ ECOâ€™s are trained as Technician Level HAZMAT responders. The ECO will be proficient in the use of Level A personal protective equipment including self-contained breathing apparatus, and numerous other forms of PPE to allow them to perform duties in all areas of the plant as part of the Incident Command Structure.
Housekeeping â€“ to ensure a safe and efficient production environment, the ECO is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized process tower. This may include cleaning up hazardous spills, picking up debris, rolling up hoses, washing equipment, etc.
Receive and Deliver Training â€“ to maintain and continuously improve the integrity of our highly trained workforce, the ECO is expected to develop, maintain and pass on their knowledge. This may include completing skills and knowledge assessments, supervising new technicians in task performance and leading discussions on process systems and technology.
Experience troubleshooting and analyzing technical equipment.
Self-motivated with a desire for career growth.
Ability to communicate to team via e-mail, as well as face-to-face individually and in team settings.
Data entry skills (basic computer skills).
Ability to arrive to work in enough time to be dressed and prepared to work by the start of the shift.
Work in a team environment to meet team/site goals.
Strong work ethic.
Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others, with a proven history of addressing safety concerns and issues.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Our safety equipment has weight restrictions. In order to qualify, you must be able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for someone who weighs 300 pounds or less.
Previous experience working in a Chemical Manufacturing environment.
Previous experience as a Production Operator.
Proficient in Microsoft applications and SAP.
o 1 or more years of experience in a manufacturing role.
o A Certification or Associates degree or higher in Applied Science or similar field of study.
