    Johnson & Johnson MedTech is recruiting for a Lead Industrial Designer, located in Santa Clara, CA.

    Overview:

    You will join the Human Factors & Experience Design (HFXD) team and help shape OTTAVA, Johnson & Johnson's new surgical robotic system.

    As a lead Industrial designer, you will be responsible for multiple ID workstreams on OTTAVA as primary individual contributor along with provide mentorship and guidance to designers you are working with to meet business objectives. In close partnership with our design team and team mates from marketing, clinical, human factors and engineering, you will influence projects across robotic hardware, surgical instruments and accessories.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead design work in area of assigned responsibility and take ownership for the quality of the work produced

    • Directly contribute with hands-on core design development work

    • Build compelling visuals and presentations to communicate concepts, user stories and detailed designs

    • Partner with HFXD leaders to develop longer-term vision and strategies for design

    • Perform as internal expert and advisor on Industrial Design development methodologies and DFM.

    • Mentor and coach designers, developing both their craft as well as their ability to be effective contributors in an enterprise setting

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • BS/BA Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or equivalent with a minimum 10 years of relevant work experience (design portfolio is required)

    Required Experience & Skills:

    • End-to-end product development experience with multiple products launched

    • Expertise in Design for manufacturing (Mass Production)

    • Ability to balance functional requirements with emotional and aesthetic considerations

    • High proficiency in CAD development (SolidWorks)

    • Strong visualization skills (Sketching, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D Rendering)

    • Excellent story telling and verbal communication

    Preferred Experience & Skills:

    • Medical Device product development experience

    • Experience with highly complex system involving both software and hardware

    Other:

    • This position is based in Santa Clara, CA and requires up to 10% (Domestic/International) travel.

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is [$139,500] to [$224,825].

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
