    Your New Role...

    The Media Asset Technician Apprentice will provide direct support to the team in managing and ingesting sports/entertainment assets for Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD). This includes various aspects of feeds scheduling, feeds ingest, video and audio routing, media transfer, edit support, playback support, video transcode, short term, and long-term video archive. This also includes interfacing with production personnel to assist with live productions, edit projects, highlight creation and post-production delivery. This position will also include providing technical support for WBD official sports partners which includes an international presence as well as outside clients for content delivery and further technical provision. The active list of WBD sports/entertainment properties that the team administers include the National Basketball Association (NBA), NBA Digital, NBATV, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Major League Baseball (MLB), National Hockey League (NHL), United States Soccer Federation (USSF), The Match (semi-annual made for TV golf event), Bleacher Report (B/R) and All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

    The Apprentice will also be required to maintain all asset retention policies as described in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and instructed by management in order to keep the system operating efficiently. This position will always defer to the Asset Managers, Senior Asset Managers and Manager when removing assets permanently from the Media Asset Management (MAM) system.

    The Apprentice will be supporting a 24/7 operation. Applicant will be required to work various shifts on a rotating schedule that will include nights, weekends and holidays. General hours of coverage are 9am to 3am. Applicant must be prepared to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, with many new challenges in an all digital production facility. Applicant must also have an eye for attention to detail as there are multiple, small technical aspects that must be examined within the daily duties.

    Your Role Accountabilities...

    Feeds Management: (50%)

    • Scheduling all events and studios shows on EVS Ingest servers for all Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) sport properties (NBA, NBATV, MLB, NHL, NCAA, US Soccer, The Match, AEW)

    • Building IP Routes on Evertz for ingests not only for the above-mentioned events but also multi-camera sources, control room sources, LiveU sources, subscription sources, color correction sources and a host of other video/audio sources that will support multiple teams including EVS Playout Operators and non-linear editors

    • Building routing location ingest server spreadsheets essential for the EVS Playout operator teams to work on the various studio productions

    • Provide support for all areas of WBD live productions including edit and playback

    • Assist engineering with any system maintenance, troubleshooting or testing

    • Report and document any technical issues experienced during production

    • Provide EVS playout support for sports/entertainment properties to produce closed captioning for master control

    Monitoring of media and data traffic: (25%)

    • Utilizing various software tools to monitor media and data traffic for MAM and Production asset management (PAM)

    • Tracking live events to ensure audio and video quality stay on a high production level

    • Perform quality control checks for all ingested feeds

    Media Asset Management: (15%)

    • Utilizing a media asset management (MAM) system to manage all media across the WBD production systems

    • Utilizing content distribution platforms (~~~, Aspera, Signiant, MediaHub) to send media to outside clients

    • Execute daily media movement between Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) and NBA headquarters in Secaucus, NJ

    • Follow strict Standard Operating Procedures to manage media for our WBD sports properties

    • Ingest, edit, and manage all ingested media for US Soccer, NBA, NBATV, NHL, NCAA, MLB and other properties

    • Manage all melt footage (best video from live sport events) US Soccer, NBA, NBATV, NHL, NCAA, MLB and other properties

    • Transcode and deliver WBD sports properties assets for outside clients (client examples have included Amazon, Apple, IMG, Yahoo, Verizon)

    • Serves as the point person for information for all live ingested media under the WBD sports properties umbrella

    • Provide additional training and support to our partners as it relates to general operations and MAM workflows

    • Always defer to Digital Asset Managers, Senior Asset Managers or Team Manager for applying retention and deletion policies as required.

    Liaison between parties: (10%)

    • Work with several parties to troubleshoot inbound source issues

    • Serve as a liaison between programming and master control to deliver content for broadcast air

    • Handle video routing when late or last-minute requests happen

    Your Qualifications & Experience...

    • HD Video production and post production skills

    • Operational knowledge of Non Linear Editing systems

    • Media file re-wrap and transcoding familiarity

    • Prior non-linear edit experience (sports preferred)

    • College degree in Computer Science, Video Production, or similar

    Ideal candidates will have

    • Digital media and encoding format familiarity.

    • Team and player knowledge of NBA, NHL, MLB and NCAA

    • EVS asset management system knowledge
