    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The production/copy editor will support our USG customer with publishing intelligence products that are correctly written in terms of accuracy, readability, and fitness for its purpose.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

    • Check written material to correct errors in grammar, spelling, usage and style.

    • Assist with divisional production tracking platforms and systems, which provides production facilitator support.

    • Assist in the development and documentation of an integrated and collaborative analytic production process

    • Ensure that written text is concise, consistent and both grammatically and factually correct as well as ensure that each sentence is easy to read and that concepts expressed are in a logical, sequential manner.

    • Edit a wide range of documents in a high-volume environment, primarily working as part of a multi-editor team.

    • Participate in analytic production meetings and provide situational awareness of draft products in the production process, as required.

    • Apply editorial styles and standards consistently and appropriately across multiple proposal volumes with rigorous attention to detail.

    • Identify, question, and/or correct grammatical and punctuation errors, faulty sentence construction, and ambiguous or conflicting statements/information.

    • Research and verify acronym definitions; generate glossaries.

    • Perform quality control reviews on edited documents.

    • Assist the Media Services Team with daily content review processes and technical editing requisites.

    Education

    • Bachelor?s degree in a relevant field is highly preferred

    Experience

    • Level 2 ? Bachelor?s degree AND 2 years? experience OR HS Diploma and 6 years? experience

    • Level 3 ? Bachelor?s degree AND 4 years? experience OR HS Diploma and 8 years? experience

    Specialized Knowledge/Skills Requirements

    • Ability to think critically and analytically, as well as broadly and strategically

    • Ability to perform under pressure and with tight deadlines

    • Must have knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
