    Proposal Specialist

    PRIMARY PURPOSE : To provide ownership and process management for requests for information/proposals to be defined as high value ($1.5M+) across the following categories of business: disability and leave, client renewals, and public entity; to collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), marketing advisors and proposal specialists/coordinators to ensure the proposals are completed timely, accurately and of the highest level of quality.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Participates in strategy planning with the business development group and assigned marketing advisor; works collaboratively on executive summary and overall review.

    • Works with proposal coordinator/specialist to create the initial draft; works collaboratively with SMEs to ensure new requirements are identified and documented.

    • Ensures that the marketing story is consistent throughout the response, and that the overall response is compliant, responsive, and specific to the client and opportunity where possible.

    • Determines and maintains the timeline for each response to ensure that deadlines are met.

    • Facilitates internal flow and review of all proposal inputs and directs production of final master proposal.

    • Provides initial review, when not assigned ownership, and/or final reviews of proposals that have complex pieces (i.e., public entity, renewal, etc.) to make sure that the responses have been adjusted and fit the proposed program.

    • Undertakes additional assignments, such as RFP follow-up requests, proposal library update projects and other ad hoc writing assignments as identified; helps develop and maintain proposal best practices.

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

    • Travels as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education & Licensing

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

    Experience

    6 (Six) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include three (3) years of project management experience and one (1) year of proofing/editing experience.

    Skills & Knowledge

    • Strong grammar and proofreading skills

    • Knowledge of appropriate software

    • Strong project management skills

    • Strong time management and organizational skills

    • Ability to work in a fast paced high pressure environment

    • Strong oral and written communication skills

    • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

    • Ability to work in a team environment

    • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
