    As a Senior Associate, Technical Publications you will research, analyze, and translate technical information into government and commercial manuals and other documents for technical users. You will establish and maintain internal and external company contacts for Collins Aerospace equipment and/or specific platform subject matter expertise.

    This position is required to work onsite in Sterling VA.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Develop moderately complex technical manuals such as operation and maintenance manuals, maintenance instruction manuals, maintenance requirement cards, technical work cards, user manuals, instructor operator handbooks, training documentation, and other technical documentation.

    • Researches and analyzes Engineering drawings consisting of product tree, assembly, installation, parts list, cable list, wiring diagrams, and schematic diagrams as well as utilizes system architecture diagrams, Engineering specifications, and test procedures to develop new or revise existing technical manuals.

    • Participates in determining objectives of assignments.

    • Plans, schedules, and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives.

    • Works with engineers and other technical personnel to develop and verify technical manual content.

    • Develops illustrations and diagrams from Engineering drawings utilizing Adobe Illustrator and/or CorelDraw.

    • Develops technical manuals and training documentation in accordance with various military standards, Technical Manual Contract Requirements (TMCRs), and Data Item Descriptions (DIDs).

    • Provides editing and formatting support of Engineering documentation.

    • Participates in peer reviews of documentation developed by colleagues.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience in technical publications or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of experience in technical publications

    • Prior experience using Microsoft Office 365

    • Prior experience using a graphic design application

    • Active and transferable U.S. Department of Defense issued security clearance is required prior to start date

    • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Technical Writing experience within the aerospace and defense industry

    • Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw experience

    The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
