    About The Job

    This job is a member of the Communications Team within the Communications Division. This position will be responsible for crafting American Airlines messaging, both internally and externally, to tell American Airlines story. This role will report to the senior manager of Hub Communications and has interaction with leaders from around the company including those in operations, sales and government affairs.

    Specifically you’ll do the following:

    • Supports media relations programs, including developing and maintaining relationships with reporters, handling media on site at events, and acting as on the-record spokesperson when appropriate

    • Serves as strategic communications and reputation management advisor to American's airport leadership

    • Develops and executes communications strategies around highly volatile and fast-moving issues Assumes media "on call" duties a handful of times a year

    • Supports global communications team in communications efforts for our commercial and people program

    • Works hand in hand with the market's government affairs team to increase effectiveness, reach and communicate priorities both internally and externally

    • Executes strategy and create content for the market's employee communications programs, including regular newsletter, employee intranet, and other communications vehicles

    • Continuously Improves employee outreach and communication

    • Plans, coordinates, publicizes and recaps employee engagement activities and events, including town halls and senior executive visits

    • Helps publicize other events, including benefits/HR programs, operations events, safety fairs, etc.

    • Helps support and publicize local community relations strategy in conjunction with manager and national community relations team

    • Drafts internal messaging for employee meetings, program rollouts and senior management, as needed

    • Supports crisis communications activities that have an impact on the market; serve as "Go Team" member in the event of a crisis

    • Ability to work in a fast paced, 24/7 environment to help lead American's efforts


    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/training in the Communications field

    • 3 years related experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 5 years related experience

    • Excellent writing and AP (Associated Press) style writing
