Senior Technical Writer

Robert Half Marketing & Creative is seeking a skilled Technical Writer with experience in both software documentation and the agriculture industry to join one of their clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing technical documentation, user manuals, and instructional guides for software applications, as well as a deep understanding of agricultural practices and terminology. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to create clear and concise documentation that enables our customers to effectively utilize our software solutions. This will be an on-going, part time position based in Greeley, Colorado. Must be able to go on site on a hybrid basis (~2days/week) as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive technical documentation for software products, including user manuals, API documentation, release notes, and troubleshooting guides.

• Collaborate with software developers, product managers, and subject matter experts to gather information and ensure accuracy of documentation.

• Translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable content for end users with varying levels of technical expertise.

• Conduct research and interviews with agricultural experts to gain insights into industry-specific terminology, processes, and workflows.

• Create documentation templates, style guides, and standards to maintain consistency across all written materials.

• Review and edit existing documentation to improve clarity, accuracy, and usability.

• Stay updated on industry trends, software updates, and regulatory requirements to ensure documentation remains relevant and up-to-date.

• Assist in the development of training materials, tutorials, and online help resources to support customer onboarding and ongoing education.

• Participate in usability testing and provide feedback to improve user experience and product usability.

• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by providing suggestions for process enhancements and documentation best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, Agriculture, or related field.

• Proven experience working as a technical writer, preferably in the software industry with exposure to agriculture.

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.

• Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and MadCap Flare.

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and markup languages (e.g., Markdown, XML).

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Knowledge of agricultural practices, terminology, and industry standards.

• Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment.

• Passion for technology and agriculture, with a desire to make a positive impact in the agriculture industry.
