    The Opportunity

    This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We are looking for an energetic and driven senior designer to join our team and design world class experiences for our product.

    As a Senior Designer, your creativity and insight will be integral in creating innovative digital health products from concept to delivery. Your ability to elevate our user experiences for our global customers, set high design standards and leverage profound human understanding will be pivotal to our mission.

    What you'll work on

    • Interaction Design - Analyze business requirements and user needs to create user flows and task flow diagrams. Translate your ideas into wireframes and prototypes for stakeholder and user feedback.

    • Visual Design - Create beautiful mock-ups of visual designs consistent with UI guidelines and Abbott's brand standards.

    • Design Documentation - Specify final designs and create commercial design input documentation.

    • Design System - Build out and promote the company's design system. Manage the governance process and internal release cycles. Collaborate with stakeholders to create and maintain a prioritized backlog of work items.

    • Design Process - Apply and evangelize human centered design methodologies. Lead and support cross-functional design sprints and workshops.

    • Collaboration - Closely work with product managers and user researchers to understand customer needs and make informed design decisions. Negotiate technical feasibility of your designs with engineering and support agile teams in developing high-quality user interfaces.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Design / Human Factors or related field plus minimum of 6 years related work experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience building, using, maintaining, and advocating for design systems.

    • Proficiency with standard design, prototyping and productivity tools, including Figma, Jira and Adobe Creative Suite.

    • A clear understanding of what constitutes superior design and the drive to continually elevate standards.

    • Demonstrable experience in designing, prototyping and launching exceptional end-to-end experiences.

    • Ability to distill complex information and requirements into simple flows.

    • Sound knowledge of web and mobile UI technologies.

    • Eagerness to deeply understand customers and their needs.

    • Thorough knowledge of usability and accessibility standards.

    • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to succinctly explain your design decisions.

    • Enthusiasm for design craftsmanship and a commitment to stay inspired.

    • An online portfolio showcasing your design approach and impact, through highlighted work samples or case studies

    • Bonus: experience in front end development

    The base pay for this position is $109,300.00 - $218,500.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
