  • Univision Network News is seeking an SVP News to lead, and set creative direction for, the network's daily and weekly news, news magazine and news entertainment shows. Reporting directly to the President of News, this key role will be responsible for designing and implementing policies, procedures and the overall direction of the organization's news function. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and inspiring leader with editorial acumen who will be charged with ideating and bringing to life powerful stories across programs and platforms, managing resources and staff to deliver compelling news content.

    Job Responsibilities.

    • Lead and inspire large matrixed teams of news and production professionals, driving a culture of integrity and excellence in delivering breaking news and compelling stories

    • Manage the editorial content of news, news magazine and news entertainment programs across broadcast, digital and social media platforms

    • Work with Executive Producers to produce high-quality, accurate, engaging content that is relevant to our audience and consistent with our brand

    • Develop strategic plans for News and Information growth and increased ratings in existing and new platforms using analytics

    • Attract and manage journalists and talent for news programs

    • Collaborate with Digital content teams to maximize audience reach

    • Foster and encourage creativity and differentiation in storytelling

    • Leverage creative production techniques to enhance the production quality of stories.

    • Collaborate with other department heads to achieve departmental and company goals

    • Obtain and allocate resources, managing budgets, to achieve strategic and operating goals

    • Perform other duties, as assigned, to drive and fulfill the mission of informing, entertaining and empowering the US Hispanic consistent with company values

    Required Skills & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related Media Production

    • 15+ years of experience creating compelling and engaging content, including 10+ years in News management

    • Proven leadership capabilities and a track record of building and maintaining a strong, cohesive, winning news team.

    • Influential with anchors, reporters, producers and production crews.

    • Sharp editorial judgement and working knowledge of journalistic ethics, libel, and privacy laws

    • Proven ability to generate new ideas and develop them into high-quality, engaging content through creativity and powerful storytelling

    • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to manage multiple hours of daily and weekly content, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure and with flexibility.

    • Must be willing to work long hours and weekends and travel, consistent with the demands of a 24/7 news environment

    • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail

    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally in English and Spanish

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • Fluent in Spanish (read and write)
