    POSITION DETAILS

    Queensborough Community College invites applications for the position of Digital Design Specialist in the Strategic Initiatives and Digital Transformation department. The department provides guidance and supports the campus community and works closely with the Offices of Admissions, Marketing, Communications, Institutional Advancement, Information Technology, the Kupferberg Holocaust Center, Queensborough Performing Arts Center and QCC Art Gallery. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Digital Transformation, the Digital Design Specialist has outstanding creativity and possesses a strong attention to detail, excellent editorial judgment, and solid proofreading skills to ensure all materials are high-quality and accurate. The successful candidate will:

    • Design and produce creative, visually compelling collateral from concept to completion, including advertising, special event invitations, direct mail solicitations, promotional materials, logos, banners, posters, and a variety of other marketing, print, and digital collateral as needed

    • Research and compile information for the design and production of collateral

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver designs that are creative, useful, and align with technical and brand standards

    • Work with the Strategic Initiatives and Digital Transformation team to review and approve design elements to ensure the College's branding is communicated clearly, consistently, and accurately across all mediums

    • Provide timely and comprehensive marketing analytics across various channels to assist with the decision-making process and ultimately improve marketing strategies and results; measuring effectiveness of campaigns; and provide recommendations for optimization

    • Research, identify, and recommend emerging digital media technologies and methodologies

    • Work occasional nonstandard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

    Preferred qualifications

    • Graphic design and pre-press skills essential with significant experience in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign or QuarkXPress

    • Proven ability to move creative projects from conception to completion including from design to layout to typography selection to printing

    • Experience designing and producing comprehensive program brochures, advertising, special event invitations, direct mail solicitations, promotional materials, logos, banners, posters, and a variety of other marketing, print, and digital collateral

    • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or similar design tools to create brand kits and templates

    • Experience with Adobe XD or Figma for designing mockups and/or prototypes

    • Experience with a work / project management system such as ~~~, Trello, or Basecamp

    • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, from creative process through production, within tight deadlines in a busy office environment

    • Demonstrated experience conceptualizing, designing, and creating materials catering to diverse audiences

    CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

    Provides design and production expertise for College publications, written materials, and multi-media communications.

    • Works with department and other College administrators to assess departmental publication needs and determine appropriate production and design elements

    • Participates in planning communications messages, graphic elements, and formats appropriate to client requirements

    • Manages production schedules and budgets, coordinating production activities with internal and external personnel

    • Plans and implements on-line and multimedia communications, coordinating with Information Technology professionals as needed

    • Supervises staff both creative and production staff; works with College print shop, computer center, and other departments to ensure support of college publication needs

    • May oversee equipment inventories and coordinate maintenance of specialized equipment and technology

    • Develops production workflows, policies and standards, and assures adherence to any internal or external communications standards

    • Performs related duties as assigned.

    After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

    If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

    Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
