    About the Role

    The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking a Long-Term Analyst-Media & Information Integrity for the October 2024 parliamentary elections in Georgia. This is a temporary four-month assignment based in Tbilisi, Georgia beginning in July 2024.

    Primary responsibilities include monitoring and providing in-depth analysis on issues relating to the conduct, administration, and process of the municipal elections, in line with the Declaration of Principles for International Election Observation, Code of Conduct for International Election Observers and national legislation. The LTA will need to take into consideration the electoral code, the laws affecting the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC), and other electoral legislation and regulations (such as decrees, codes of conduct, ordinances, decisions). The LTA will report to the LTA Coordinator, who will be coordinating with the NDI Georgia Senior Resident Country Director. In coordination with other LTA team members, they will assist in producing analytical reports ahead of the elections.

    Specific scopes of work for analysis will be determined in consultation with the LTA Coordinator and NDI program staff, but may include broad themes such as election administration, the political and campaign environment, media and information integrity, and gender and inclusion.

    This position is contingent on donor funding.

    Your Purpose and Impact:

    • Depending on the specific issue area under consideration, provide qualitative and quantitative analysis of relevant institutions' and stakeholders' performance and conduct around elections and the electoral process;

    • Act as primary point of contact with the relevant stakeholders, such as election authorities, media, political parties, civil society organizations, and international organizations;

    • Assess the capacity of relevant stakeholders and institutions to participate in or contribute to the electoral process;

    • As relevant, monitor reporting and resolution of election-related complaints and disputes by candidates, political parties, and civil society organizations;

    • Prepare briefing materials and talking points on the conduct of the electoral process during the election period, and other advice to the Mission Director, other LTAs, and others as requested and as necessary;

    • When relevant, attend meetings and sessions hosted by electoral stakeholders;

    • Maintain regular relations with observers and analysts of other nonpartisan and credible domestic and international observation missions and organizations;

    • Prepare regular reports and collaborate with other NDI LTAs to ensure issues are streamlined through all reports, including the preliminary election day statements, final report and any other statements issued by the mission;

    • Provide additional support as needed to the mission.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree preferably in international relations, law, political science, development studies or related subject;

    • A minimum of five (5) years relevant professional experience with election observation and analysis (especially as a long-term observer or long-term analyst on an international observation mission preferred), or in law and related fields;

    • Experience in analysis of media & information integrity required;

    • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a sensitive political environment;

    • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of an internationally and culturally diverse team, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;

    • Exceptional interpersonal and managerial skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of local stakeholders and foreign government personnel;

    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to effectively present information in a clear and persuasive manner;

    • Analytical skills for interpreting complex program and political issues;

    • Experience working in Europe or Eurasia preferred;

    • Capable with word processing, Google Suite, and digital communication technologies; and

    • Fluent written and spoken English required.
