    Cell Reports Medicine is a premium open access journal at Cell Press, publishing cutting edge and impactful work from across the spectrum of translation and clinical research. We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic scientist, physician scientist or clinician to join the editorial team of Cell Reports ~~~ welcome applications from candidates with expertise inany clinical or biomedical field and are open to considering candidates atjunior and senior levels. Previous editorial experience is an advantage but isnot required. Cell Reports Medicine values having a diverse editorial team, andapplications from those from minority groups currently under-represented inscience are warmly welcomed.

    About the Role

    The Senior Scientific Editor is closely involved in all editorial aspects of thejournal. Overseeing new submissions and quality peer review to ensure wepublish high-quality content. Building global relationships with experts in thecommunity. Disseminating and discussing practice-changing results from thefield. Traveling to scientific conferences and research institutions.Communicating the journal's mission to support science.

    Responsibilities

    • Recruiting exciting content and assessing submitted research papers.

    • Selecting and collaborating with referees.

    • Engaging authors throughout the review process and providing outstanding author service.

    • Commissioning and editing, reviewing perspective articles, and other front matter writing and editing content. This will be for the journal homepage and social media outlets.

    • Developing and supporting journal strategy. This including supporting the development of deep links between the developing network of Cell Press open access journals.

    • Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond.

    • Establishing relationships with researchers through outreach to the scientific and clinical communities.

    • Contributing consistently to Cell Press growth and innovation projects.

    Requirements

    • Have an accredited PhD or MD in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline. Coupled with previous Publishing experience.

    • Display broad scientific interests and an ability to think critically about a wide range of scientific and clinical issues.

    • Be and exceptional communicator, verbal and written, including English.

    • Able to work successfully both independently and in a diverse, global team.

    • Have excellent interpersonal and networking skills.

    • Possess proven, deep, and global research networks and connections. Displaying continued interest in industry trends.

    • Be based in proximity to one of our offices. Locations in Cambridge MA USA; London or Oxford UK; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Munich, Germany; Beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen, China. Please note although we are open to these locations primary hiring focus will be based in the United States.
