    • Research and write about the implications of science for law enforcement professionals and policy makers.

    • Be familiar with the scientific methods and the application of science to law enforcement.

    • Write and edit content for peer-reviewed academic journals, working closely with subject matter experts.

    • Interview subject matter experts; to gather, organize and synthesize scientific information

    • Have demonstrated experience communicating complex scientific findings to lay audiences.

    • Provide editorial support including the drafting, reviewing, and editing of content.

    • Establish and maintain editorial and style standards.

    • Track deliverables and maintain progress reports.

    • Attend on-site workshops and presentations in Washington, D.C. as requested (must reside in the Washington, D.C. metro area).??

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, or a closely related field

    • Five years of experience in forensics, life or physical sciences, or social and behavioral sciences

    • Five years of experience writing and editing professional publications and other documents; portfolio with writing samples

    • Five or more yearswriting and editing skills

    • Three or more years in the GPO Style Manual and APA Style

    • Three or more years with the Microsoft Office Suite?(Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

    • Able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance (federal government background check)

    • Must be located in the DMV area for on site visits

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • A self-starter with the ability to support multiple priorities

    • Experience working successfully in a team environment

    • Excellent customer service skills

    • Proficiency in the following Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

    • Experience supporting a government or federal agency

    Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

    $79,643.00 - $135,392.00
